Singletary adds new faces, new position to defensive staff

While there were a number of highlights that took place for the 49ers in their 42-19 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the most memorable moment might have come when things got heated between 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw and Eagles senior advisor to the general manager/chief security officer Dom DiSandro. The incident happened in the third quarter of Sunday's game with the 49ers holding a 21-6 lead. Greenlaw made a physical tackle on wide receiver DeVonta Smith near the Eagles sideline, which resulted in Greenlaw getting a 15-yard penalty. The tackle also prompted Eagles players, coaches and DiSandro to approach Greenlaw in Smith's defense. San Francisco 49ers safety George Odum suffered a torn biceps injury in the team's blowout win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thanksgiving night. Odum is one of the top special teamers in the NFL. Replacing him on special teams is one thing, but replacing him at safety is another issue, as the 49ers are currently a little too thin at the position. Odum is the second safety in less than one week to be lost—potentially for the season. Talanoa Hufanga tore his right ACL and will miss the rest of the season. Rookie safety Ji'Ayir Brown took over Hufanga's starting safety spot and has played well so far. But now the 49ers need to find another safety to take Odum's spot. The San Francisco 49ers faced a tight schedule leading up to their Thursday night NFC West clash with the Seattle Seahawks. Despite the challenges, the defense successfully contained Seattle's main offensive threat, wide receiver DK Metcalf, limiting him to three catches for 32 yards on nine targets while primarily covered by cornerback Charvarius Ward. Ward's impressive performance held the 6-foot-4 wideout in check, allowing only one catch for 14 yards when matched against him.
