Bradley Locker, a freelance writer for Pro Football Focus, delved into all 16 NFC teams to pinpoint one potential breakout player for each. For the San Francisco 49ers, that player is former second-round draft pick Drake Jackson, who had an underwhelming sophomore campaign last season before landing on injured reserve.
San Francisco overhauled their defensive line this offseason, bidding farewell to Arik Armstead and others while bringing in edge rushers Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos in free agency. While many anticipate these additions to compensate for the losses, the true impact will only be seen once the regular season kicks off.

The Athletic's Tim Kawakami recently fielded questions from fans regarding the San Francisco 49ers. One of the hot topics surrounding the team resolves around the future of wide receiver Deebo Samuel, currently under contract through the 2025 season. However, a lot signals that his time in red and gold may end earlier than that.
Brandon Aiyuk has emerged as the 49ers' top receiving target, leading the team with 1,342 receiving yards and surpassing 1,000 yards for the second consecutive season. San Francisco is actively negotiating a contract extension to secure Aiyuk's presence on the team for the foreseeable future.

"I'm a realist. There were two teams left out of 32 teams. Two teams fighting for that one trophy. Yeah, it sucks, but you got to look back and say, at the end of the day, it was a successful season. By David Bonilla

Isaac Guerendo carried the football 132 times during his final collegiate season, rushing for 810 yards and 11 touchdowns. It marked the most carries the Louisville running back had during a single season throughout his college career.
Consistently finding himself behind another running back on the depth chart, Guerendo started only one game in college, which might seem like a negative to some evaluators. However, the San Francisco 49ers were willing to see what the young running back could do at the professional level, making him a fourth-round draft pick.
"I've played with a lot of great backs, been in a lot of great rooms," Guerendo told reporters on Thursday after reporting to the 49ers for the rookie minicamp.
