According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey won't practice on Thursday, which means he'll have missed two consecutive practices due to a calf contusion. It's something everyone around the NFL media world is keeping an eye on this week as the team prepares for its NFC Championship Game clash against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Don't expect a little injury to keep McCaffrey out on Sunday, though. Reporters asked the running back if there was any chance in his mind that he wouldn't play against the Eagles.

"Zero," McCaffrey quickly and confidently responded.

The 49ers traded for McCaffrey on October 20, 2022. He has started each of the team's past 12 games, including these last two playoff matchups. San Francisco is 12-0 when McCaffrey is on the field for the offense's opening drive. He's determined not to miss Sunday's game at Lincoln Financial Field.

Can he do that despite missing two full practices? The remaining practice, Friday's session, is typically a lighter one. The running back has a plan to be ready for Sunday.

"Just do all the walk-throughs, the run-throughs, whatever," McCaffrey shared, "and go through the list multiple times with coach [Anthony] Lynn or Bobby [Turner]. It's the same process for me, just lowering a little bit of the physical load."

McCaffrey amassed 1,880 total yards and 13 total touchdowns this season. One-thousand two-hundred ten of those yards and 10 of those touchdowns came after the Carolina Panthers traded the running back to the 49ers. In San Francisco's two playoff games, McCaffrey has added 193 all-purpose yards and two total touchdowns.

49ers view Isaac Yiadom as leading candidate to start at CB, says insider

By David Bonilla
Mar 21

The San Francisco 49ers' signing of cornerback Isaac Yiadom to a one-year deal wasn't a headline-grabbing move. It wasn't even the Bay Area team's most significant free-agency move thus far. That would be defensive end Leonard Floyd signing a two-year deal with the 49ers. However, San Francisco hopes Yiadom proves to be one of its more underrated signings. The 28-year-old defensive back is coming off his best NFL season. Yiadom's 81.1 overall grade and 80.4 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus were career highs. Opposing quarterbacks completed 50 percent of their passes (22 of 44) and owned an 84.4 passer rating when targeting the former New Orleans Saints defender in 2023. RELATED:

49ers actively negotiating with Brandon Aiyuk, not discussing trades, says John Lynch

By David Bonilla
Mar 25

General manager John Lynch addressed reporters at the NFL owners meetings on Monday, emphasizing the San Francisco 49ers' active pursuit of a contract extension for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. There has been significant speculation surrounding Aiyuk's status this offseason. The receiver is slated to play on his fifth-year option, which guarantees him $14.124 million in 2024. While the team would be content with Aiyuk playing on that fifth-year option, it would prefer to secure the star receiver to a long-term deal before he returns to the field. By David Bonilla
Mar 18

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand. Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction. Ward described White as a "hand in glove
