Mel Kiper, Jr., of ESPN, has covered the NFL Draft for decades. Each year, he hands out his draft grades after the draft is over, grading each team on how well they performed, in his estimation. There were a couple of moments in the 2024 draft in which Kiper said the San Francisco 49ers reached for a player. I expected Kiper's opinion of the 49ers' draft to be lower than the B- he gave them. PFF names favorite 49ers pick from 2024 draft class

The San Francisco 49ers selected former Wake Forest safety Malik Mustapha in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The rookie defender joins a group that includes All-Pro Talanoa Hufanga and second-year safety Ji'Ayir Brown. Mustapha tallied 80 tackles, including five for a loss, 0.5 sacks, two passes defensed, an interception, and a forced fumble through 12 games in 2023, per Sports Reference. His overall grade of 79.6 and coverage grade of 72.1 from Pro Football Focus this past season were career highs. RELATED:

NFL Communications has officially announced the "NFL legends and active players" who will announce selections during Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Representing the San Francisco 49ers will be former defensive tackle Anthony "Spice" Adams, who spent four seasons with the team and nine in the NFL. One thing is clear: Ian Rapoport expects Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel to be on the San Francisco 49ers roster when the team takes the field in Week 1 of the 2024 season. At this point, most probably feel that way.
