As George Kittle returned to practice this week after a stint on injured reserve due to a calf injury, questions turned to whether the 49ers are overworking their star tight end. Kittle has played just 12 of the past 23 games due to injury.

49ers activate Emmanuel Moseley off IR, three DBs off Reserve/COVID-19 list

The San Francisco 49ers announced Saturday that safety Jimmie Ward and cornerbacks Dontae Johnson and K'Waun Williams have been activated off the Reserve/COVID-19 list, while cornerback Emmanuel Moseley has been activated from injured reserve after being sidelined with a high ankle sprain. The team also activated two players from the practice squad in linebacker Mark Nzeocha and recently-added cornerback Darqueze Dennard. In addition, linebacker Curtis Robinson was activated from the practice squad as a COVID-19 replacement. The 49ers now have a more complete secondary than they did earlier in the week, when Johnson, Williams, Ward, and cornerbacks Ambry Thomas and Deommodore Lenoir were placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. One that he maybe didn't expect to be so drastic is how honest his players are with him when it comes to injuries, even when he hopes for complete honesty. The Los Angeles Rams seemed to have turned an innocent comment made recently by San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle into some motivation this week, but Kittle made sure he got the last laugh after the 49ers' 27-24 overtime win over the Rams on Sunday. Kittle was speaking to reporters on Thursday about the physicality of the 49ers' offense and ended his comments by saying, "It's going to definitely show up this Sunday about who's the more physical team. It's going to be kind of a body bag game, is my opinion." He revealed in his media session after Sunday's game that the Rams might have taken exception to those comments, even though he didn't make the comment to target the Rams in particular.
