Hurst is the second former Raiders player that the 49ers have signed this week. News of defensive end Arden Key's signing was reported yesterday.
The Raiders made Hurst a fifth-round selection out of Michigan in 2018. He registered 27 tackles, a tackle for a loss, 0.5 sacks, six quarterback hits, and a pass defensed through 11 games with Las Vegas last season, per Pro Football Reference.
The 25-year-old defender has seen his Pro Football Focus grade steadily improve over his three NFL seasons. He had a career-high overall grade of 77.9 in 2020, which factored in a career-high pass-rushing grade of 78.5.
Hurst has recorded 76 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, eight sacks, 17 quarterback hits, seven passes defensed, an interception, and a forced fumble through his three NFL seasons.
