Defensive end Nick Bosa is in Florida working out and rehabbing from the ACL injury he sustained at MetLife Stadium during Week 2 this past season. The former No. 2 overall pick recently had a brief conversation with former ESPN reporter Josina Anderson and provided an update on his recovery.

"You'll see my progress on the field next [season]," Bosa told Anderson via a phone conversation. "Tell them I'm gonna be better."

That is certainly encouraging. The only real update we've had on Bosa are rehab videos posted by Motus Specialists Physical Therapy on social media.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said in December that he was optimistic about Bosa's recovery.

"I have every reason to believe, Nick Bosa, the way he works, the way his body is made, he'll be the exact same guy next year," Shanahan told reporters.

The surgeon who repaired the damage — Dr. Neal ElAttrache — in the knees of both Bosa and teammate Solomon Thomas, who suffered an ACL injury two plays after Bosa, was also optimistic about both players' progress.

"They weren't just straight-forward, isolated ACL injuries," ElAttrache told The Athletic earlier this month. "These were bigger injuries. But they're both ahead of where ordinarily we'd expect them to be. And so they're both going through their initial stages of functional performance training. So it's looking very promising for both of those guys."

A fan asked Anderson if a player has ever had a "monster" season coming off a serious knee injury. She pointed back to a future Hall-of-Fame running back who was named the league MVP a year after suffering a torn ACL and MCL — Adrian Peterson.

"So yes, Nick Bosa can absolutely do it," responded Anderson. "But much like Peterson, it will depend upon the quality of Bosa'a rehab program and prayerfully staying healthy next season. He has the will."

By David Bonilla
Mar 12

The San Francisco 49ers probably won't make another big move at defensive end after agreeing to terms with Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos on two-year deals. However, before news of the signings broke, the Bosa family seemed to be hoping for brothers Nick and Joey to become teammates in Santa Clara. The brothers' mother, Cheryl Bosa, responded to an Instagram post speculating about the Los Angeles Chargers trading Joey Bosa to the 49ers. This would unite him with Nick Bosa and create a formidable family duo on the team's defensive line. Cheryl's response? "OMG! Do it for Mama [bear]," she shared via

Did the 49ers get better in the first week of free agency?

By Marc Adams
Mar 16

It's been less than one week since the free agency rumors started swirling. The San Francisco 49ers have been busy, from restructuring contracts to seeing some of their own sign elsewhere to bringing aboard new players. They even pulled off a trade. But have they improved their roster this first week of NFL free agency? Let's take a look at which additions and returning players help, and which losses hurt. Additions that help The addition that helped the most is likely edge rusher Leonard Floyd. The veteran pass rusher played in all 17 games last season and hasn't missed a game since 2017. The 49ers have been searching for that edge rusher opposite of Nick Bosa since Dee Ford. Floyd very well could be that guy, finishing with at least nine sacks

Three Key Defensive Free Agents to Make the 49ers Better in 2024

By Wayne P. Brown
Mar 10

Although the defense finished as one of the top defenses in 2023 under Steve Wilks, the San Francisco 49ers struggled in a few areas, like stopping the run, finishing the pass rush with sacks, and surrendering explosive plays. In this editorial, we will look to find three defensive players to keep the 49ers defense among the elite. The 49ers have 22 players scheduled to become free agents, 12 being defensive players. The team must address the edge, interior, and cornerback positions. Improving these three areas will keep the 49ers on top. Three defensive ends—Chase Young, Randy Gregory, and Clelin Ferrell—are set to become free agents. Per Pro Football Focus (PFF), the trio totaled 74 pressures (11 sacks, 17 hits, and 46 hurries). If the 49ers want to

Silver: 49ers seek starting safety, explored Joey Bosa options

By David Bonilla
Mar 14

The San Francisco 49ers have been active in the first week of free agency, but their work isn't done yet. After narrowly missing out on a Super Bowl victory last season, the team knows it owns a championship-caliber roster and believes a few strategic adjustments could make all the difference. According to Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers looked into strengthening their defensive backfield on Thursday, aiming to secure a potential starting safety and possibly a cornerback. "With the safety market somewhat oversaturated, the Niners might be able to land a big name such as Justin Simmons (four
