The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of offensive lineman Spencer Long on Thursday. Three days later, the veteran has decided to retire, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Long, 29, entered the NFL as a third-round selection by Washington out of Nebraska in 2014. Long has 67 game appearances with 44 starts through his six NFL seasons and appeared in 27 games over the past two seasons. He played a season for the New York Jets before joining the Buffalo Bills in 2019.
