Looking at the Road Ahead: Why the 49ers' quest for a sixth Super Bowl win still looks promising
By Don Atkinson
Feb 16, 2021
When the 49ers' injury-driven 2020 season mercifully ended, the team took unwanted claim to the basement of the NFC West at 6-10 and began fielding a litany of questions about its roster future. A few of those questions have been resolved, but many more are still left open, and have become the topic of debate among both football analysts and the team's fan base.
The greatest questions, of course, have revolved around whether the 49ers can ride out another year with oft-injured quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who spent much of last season either hobbled on the field or watching from the press box. The fervor over whether Garoppolo can raise his play to a level needed to win a Super Bowl has continued to escalate, making his future with the team, at least to observers, seem shaky

49ers projected to land two offensive stars in Draft Network seven-round mock
By Kirk Larrabee
Feb 20, 2021
Mock drafts are a dime a dozen this time of year, and most of them wind up projecting something unexciting that has already been projected several times before. But every once in a while, a mock draft comes along that is interesting enough to single out and discuss on its own, like this one from Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network.
Fowler put together a complete seven-round mock for the 49ers using The Draft Network's endlessly entertaining Mock Draft Machine and came up with an intriguing list of players that includes two of college football's biggest offensive stars over the past two seasons. The first is quarterback Justin Fields of Ohio State, whom Fowler has going to the 49ers in Round 1. The second

CJ McCollum may end up disappointed. The NBA player had campaigned for the Cleveland Browns to pursue San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman. McCollum is a Browns fan, and Sherman seemed open to the idea.
I appreciate you @CJMcCollum ! We will see how the process pans out in a month! But I hear you https://t.co/mudQL8W1Zp— Richard Sherman (@RSherman_25) February 5,

ESPN: It would take the 'Deshaun Watson effect' for the 49ers to move on from Jimmy Garoppolo
By David Bonilla
Feb 14, 2021
Jimmy Garoppolo is the most likely candidate to be San Francisco's starting quarterback in 2021, and it sounds like that's fine by the 49ers. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently reported that the Niners are among the teams that Deshaun Watson is "intrigued by." The quarterback wants out of Houston, but the Texans have no desire to trade him and are still hoping to reconcile their differences.
Fowler added on SportsCenter this weekend that it would take a monumental opportunity, like adding Watson, for the 49ers to even consider moving on from Garoppolo.
"I'm told San Fran is looking at potential upgrades, but they still like Jimmy G," Fowler said via
