49ers’ Deebo Samuel says he’ll be back better than ever in 10 weeks

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Debo Samuel is having surgery today after
suffering a Jones fracture of his left foot during a player-organized throwing session at the Brentwood Academy, just outside Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news and said on NFL Network that the second-year receiver would miss between 12 to 16 weeks as he recovers. That timetable would put his return to the football field between the second week of September and the second week of October.

San Francisco's first regular-season game is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, as the team hosts the Arizona Cardinals at Levi's Stadium.
Samuel believes he will beat Rapoport's stated timetable and be better than ever when he returns.
Samuel added the following via Instagram.
The receiver's timetable would have him return well in advance of Week 1. It would be just before the 49ers' third preseason game, an August 29 road matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Samuel also shared the following on Instagram, indicating that he fully expects to be ready for the start of the regular season.
The injury certainly means Samuel will miss most or likely all of training camp, but it certainly isn't a season-ender. Some fans will point to wide receiver
Trent Taylor suffering a similar injury last year and not playing in 2019. That injury, however, suffered complications after his initial surgery and required more procedures, which kept Taylor sidelined. That doesn't necessarily mean the same thing will happen to Samuel.
Dr. Robert Anderson will perform Samuel's surgery in Green Bay, Wisconsin, according to Rapoport.

Amidst swirling trade rumors surrounding Brandon Aiyuk, the speculation surrounding Deebo Samuel's future with the San Francisco 49ers seems to have quieted down.
According to Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers have assured Samuel that he will not be involved in any pre- or post-draft transactions, ensuring his place on the roster for the time being.
"Samuel, who signed a three-year, $71.55 million extension before the 2022 season, has been assured by his bosses that he will not be dealt during or after the draft," Silver reported, citing a source familiar with the discussions.
