The San Francisco 49ers are big on building through the draft, and that can lead to several team-friendly contracts for some young up-and-coming NFL stars. Now and then, you miss on a high draft pick, though. The Reuben Foster selection in 2017 forced the 49ers to spend big on Kwon Alexander when the team was forced to part ways with the troubled young linebacker. The emergence of another young linebacker may have made up for that, though. San Francisco made Fred Warner a third-round draft pick a year after the Foster selection, and that rookie contract has been named the team's best-value by Bleacher Report's Brent

Several San Francisco 49ers players took part in this week's State of the Franchise event. The team came just short of achieving its goal last season and hopes to finish the job during the 2020 season. Players were asked about the goal for the upcoming season. While he understands the journey will be difficult, head coach Kyle Shanahan has already stated that his expectations are to get back to the point where the team stumbled, and right that wrong. Here's why 49ers linebacker Fred Warner always has a football in his hands

Fred Warner was among several players who spoke during this week's State of the Franchise event. Greg Papa, who serves as the radio voice for the team, was curious about something. Papa noticed that the linebacker is always walking around the facility, whether he's heading to a meeting or elsewhere, with a football in his grasp. Why is that? Of course, that's when Warner and the rest of the players are there at the facility. They haven't been able to enter the building this offseason due to precautions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Papa joked that the State of the Franchise discussion may have been the first time he's seen Warner without that football. "I give all the credit to Kwon (Alexander)," Warner explained.
