Nick Mullens became a dad shortly after he officially became the 49ers' No. 2 quarterback Friday. On Monday, Mullens told reporters head coach Kyle Shanahan told him three days earlier that he'd beaten out C.J. Beathard to serve as the backup QB. Hours after Mullens received the news, his wife, Haleigh, gave birth to their first child, Luke.
