The 49ers made news at their annual State of the Franchise Event in San Jose on Wednesday night: The franchise's longest-tenured player won't be leaving anytime soon. Before a crowd of about 1,000 fans at the California Theatre, CEO Jed York announced the team had signed left tackle Joe Staley, 34, to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2021 season when he will be 37.
