Wide receiver Pierre Garcon, the 49ers' biggest free-agent acquisition in 2017, will be a free agent again in 2019. In a move that was widely expected, the 49ers will not pick up the option on Garcon's contract after he endured a second straight injury plagued season, the NFL Network reported. Garcon, who signed a five-year, $47.5 million deal two years ago, was scheduled to earn a $5.65 million base salary and count $8.27 million against the salary cap, according to OverTheCap.com. The 49ers will take a $7.2 million dead-money cap hit by releasing Garcon. Garcon ranks ninth among active players in receptions (628) and 13th in receiving yards (7,854), which made him easily the most accomplished wide receiver on the team.
