In December, the 49ers gave inside linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong a contract extension. On Friday, they gave him a pink slip. The 49ers waived Armstrong, who made five starts when rookie Reuben Foster was sidelined this season, but clearly didn't impress the new regime. Last year, then-general manager Trent Baalke gave Armstrong a two-year extension. Armstrong ranks second on the 49ers in tackles (54) and has a team-high two interceptions. He has also been released by the Rams and Raiders in his five-year career. Without Armstrong, the 49ers have four inside linebackers: Foster, Brock Coyle, Elijah Lee and Mark Nzeocha.
