A year after he strongly backed Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel for the national anthem, 49ers CEO Jed York delivered a statement Saturday condemning the comments made by President Donald Trump at a rally in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday night. Trump told his audience that players who didn't stand for the anthem should be "fired," and said he wishes an owner would say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now" to those who protested. Said York: "The callous and offensive comments made by the President are contradictory to what this great country stands for. Our players have exercised their rights as United States citizens in order to spark conversation and action to address social injustice.
