Former GM Trent Baalke acquired Kerley in a trade with the Detroit Lions in exchange for Brandon Thomas on Aug. 29. It was the most high profile acquisition the 49ers made at the wide receiver position -- and Kerley had less than two weeks to learn the playbook.

The San Francisco 49ers aren't anywhere near where they want to be five games into the regular season, but they're also not exactly down on themselves either as their bye week gets underway. The 49ers fell 17-10 to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, which marked their third consecutive loss after opening the season with wins over the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. The loss sent the 49ers to 2-3 on the year after defeats at the hands of the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks in previous weeks, and at the moment they face a sizable deficit in the NFC West behind the 5-0 Cardinals and 4-1 Los Angeles Rams. San Francisco initially claimed Harris (5-11, 200) off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens on August 17. He landed on injured reserve on September 1 due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old cornerback has recorded 50 tackles, four passes defensed, and a forced fumble through his three NFL seasons. In addition to the 49ers and Ravens (2020), the fourth-year player spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, the team that made him a fifth-round draft pick out of Illinois State in 2018, and the Denver Broncos
