The San Francisco 49ers opened their three-game 2022 exhibition schedule with their only preseason home game, a matchup against the Green Back Packers. The Niners entered the game without their two starting cornerbacks, Charvarius Ward and Emmanuel Moseley. Ward is dealing with what head coach Kyle Shanahan called a "muscle strain," while Moseley is sidelined with a hamstring strain. Also out due to injury to start the game is defensive lineman Arik Armstead (knee sprain) and running back Elijah Mitchell (hamstring). Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters before Saturday's practice and was asked about the playbook. Is he considering changing it to take advantage of Lance's unique athleticism? "Not really at all," Shanahan responded. "I mean, you do the same stuff, and you just got a couple of more elements. When you have the threat of a running quarterback, that can change defenses. And when you see how that changes them, then you adjust to

A small San Francisco 49ers roster move came across the NFL transaction wire on Friday, ahead of the team's preseason matchup against the Green Bay Packers. The Niners have removed safety Leon O'Neal Jr. from the injured reserve list with an injury settlement. San Francisco initially waived/injured O'Neal on Wednesday. The rookie safety reportedly said on social media that he had suffered a groin strain. O'Neal went unclaimed and reverted back to the 49ers' injured reserve list on
