In a sign that left tackle Joe Staley miss his third straight game, the 49ers signed offensive lineman Andrew Gardner and waived center Josh Allen today. Gardner, 30, a 2009 sixth-round pick of the Dolphins, has played both guard and tackle in a career that's included 27 games and 11 starts. Rookie John Theus, a fifth-round pick, made his NFL debut by playing the final 13 snaps at left tackle.
