Jordan Matthews' season has come to an end. The San Francisco 49ers tight end suffered a torn ACL during Monday's practice, per Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group, and will land on injured reserve. #49ers tight end Jordan Matthews tore his ACL and is going on injured reserve. Happened on a route, non-contact early in Monday's session.Really made strides in past year converting from wide receiver and was strong contender to make 53-man roster this season at TE.

KNBR was live at the San Francisco 49ers facility in Santa Clara and had an opportunity to speak with Trey Lance. The second-year quarterback feels more acclimated to the area and the team following a whirlwind 2021 campaign. "I know where all the Chipotles are nearby and everything like that," Lance said jokingly. "For me, I just feel so much more comfortable. I know the guys in the locker room so much better. I'm obviously in a very different position than I was last year, and it's just been a ton of fun." A "very different position" is correct. San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans says everyone is competing during training camp and the preseason. No one is assuming anything. Instead, players are fighting for roles this season. That includes the competition between Darqueze Dennard and rookie Samuel Womack III for the nickel cornerback job.
