Will Hunter take the #1 spot on sunday?

If Hunter has a break out game, great. Something tells me that it will be less to do with the RB and more to do with the play calling and execution. I suspect Gore will get some touches as well.
Nope. I don't see it. Have they made a decision on if Gore is playing or not?

off the subject, but do you see hunter as a smaller gore, or as a westbrook type?

Honestly, I think Hunter is the closest I've seen thus far to a younger version of Maurice Jones-Drew.

I'm not sure where the extreme boners for Hunter are coming from, or the "hungry" idea. Dumb.

I think people are just happy to see some form of a spark on offense. Alex is playing solid, but aside from Alex and possibly braylon nobody else has done anything. Hunter is the only person so far who has looked like a threat on the field. At least IMO... But crabtree said he was hungry this week, so lets see how many tip drill INT's that results in.

That would be pretty cool/nice.

Hes a rookie. That alone makes him hungry. rookies are always eager to prove themselves. hunter really has something going for him in that hes second to the best RB in the league, and is probably better than him at this point. if that doesnt make him hungry than nothing will.

I've read stuff where his skill set was comparable to Ray Rice's... I'll take it!

optimism is great, and I like Hunter too, from the moment we drafted him I was excited to see what he could do. He made a couple of nice plays against the Bengals but, honestly, he hasn't done s**t yet, and hasn't shown any more than Gore has so far. I don't know if this is the continued backlash against Gore for wanting a new contract, or that people have high expectations of him and anything less than those expectations means that he's a complete failure, or what, but this Hunter lovefest is absurd.

I hope he does well, and if he has a breakout game, even against one of the worst run defenses in football, I'll be happy and very excited. Until something like that happens these kinds of conversations are extremely premature.

true, but it isnt an empty assumption. players dont just say "oh ok i made it to the nfl, im ok with sitting on the bench" No f**king way. He wants to get out there and prove himself like every other rookie or second string player. The difference is he has the skill to get him places.

Me too! That would be the biggest surprise of the year, and I will have to buy his jersey!

some players do exactly that. that's why its an assumption. citing his desire as a positive trait and a reason that he should or could become our #1 RB relies completely on your assumption that his level of desire is equal to the desire you assume he has. If anything, one could argue that over his career Frank Gore has exhibited the "most desire" of any player on our team. Does Hunter have more desire than Frank Gore?

my point is that Hunter's Hunger (dibs on that for a restaurant name, and/or porn name) is a silly thing that I've seen pop up in several threads, and I don't know where people are seeing this.

At this point i might say yes, hunter has more desire than gore. Of course again its speculation, but gore is injnured, has a brand new contract, and isnt doing well...all of which play a role in his moral.

Its also about skill and i think at this point, especially with gore hurt, i think hunter is better. Its been shown that hunter is better so far this season.
