Maybe they let smith know that he undoubtledly is the starter, Carr is just going to hold the clipboard, now go out there with the confidence of knowing you're the starter.

if anything, I think this would make Smith look over his shoulder even more. I'm going to guess that Carr's career stats are better than Smith's. I'm too lazy to check. Both of them need to resurrect their careers and live up to their draft status. This is like tying two rocks together in the hopes that they will float.
