Me thinks this is a political statement along with the combine being irrelevant to drafts.

I think strategically if you are already in the top group you have more to lose by working out than you have to gain.

The combine is slowly eroding just like post season all star games. Every year it seems like more players are skipping it to have their own workout day. Sometimes it's because of injury or sometimes they just want to have their own workout so they stand out more. It's still important but a lot of players skip it now.
