Most projections have the San Francisco 49ers using the No. 27 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on an offensive lineman—either a long-term successor to Trent Williams at left tackle or a potential starting option at left guard.
However, the Bleacher Report NFL Draft scouting department sees head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch going in a different direction. In the site's latest mock draft, the 49ers are projected to select former Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion, a dynamic playmaker who could immediately impact the offense.
The 49ers' wide receiver room has undergone significant turnover this offseason, with Jauan Jennings not expected to return and Kendrick Bourne and Skyy Moore already gone. Additionally, Brandon Aiyuk has likely played his final snap with the team.
While the 49ers added veteran receivers Mike Evans and Christian Kirk in free agency, the team could continue to build out the position through the draft, adding more young talent for the future.
"KC Concepcion is one of the draft's most dynamic receivers," Bleacher Report's Dame Parson wrote. "He feels like a seamless fit for Kyle Shanahan's West Coast offense. Concepcion is great in space by using his playmaking ability from multiple alignments to create coverage mismatches."
According to Sports Reference, Concepcion has totaled 2,218 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns across three collegiate seasons—two at NC State and one at Texas A&M. He has also showcased versatility, adding three rushing touchdowns over the past two seasons and totaling 320 rushing yards on 41 carries as a freshman in 2023.
Parson added, "He is an easy separator and a three-level threat for quarterback Brock Purdy to attack man and zone coverages."
One of Concepcion's most appealing traits is his yards-after-the-catch (YAC) ability. In 2025 alone, he recorded 440 yards after the catch, while 1,232 of his career receiving yards have come after the catch—underscoring his effectiveness in open space.
Concepcion's standout 2025 campaign earned him consensus All-American honors, the Paul Hornung Award, and first-team All-SEC recognition.
