San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly met with the media today and was asked about the possibility of returning to coach at the college level.
Would he be interested in returning to college football? "No," Kelly said. "I'm the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. I'm not looking at anything else."
"Yeah, I'm here," Kelly added when asked if he would remain with the team once the season is over. Kelly said he has not heard from any schools about head coaching possibilities.
Last week, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported that there would likely be a lot of Chip Kelly-back-to-college chatter starting in the coming weeks. "With his offense faltering in the pros and a poor roster, talk is he'll be looking," wrote La Canfora.
"Kelly's offense continues to be ridiculed by his peers in the NFL, and several coaches I spoke to expect him to hit the eject seat button after this season and return to college before his stock continues to drop given the horrible roster he has in San Francisco," La Canfora continued.

The San Francisco 49ers officially announced several coaching hires on Thursday: Steve Wilks as defensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak as offensive passing game specialist, Jacob Webster as defensive quality control coach, and Max Molz as coaching operations assistant.
While the first two hires were made public in February, Jacob Webster and Max Molz weren't announced until the official statement from the organization on Thursday.
Per 49ers Communications, Webster, 25, joins the 49ers after spending the 2022 season as a graduate assistant at the University of Wisconsin, where he worked with the team's offense. Webster spent the previous two years at the University of Missouri,
49ers considered trading Mike McGlinchey last year
Mike McGlinchey received a life-changing payday, signing a five-year, $87.5 million deal with the Denver Broncos. The offensive tackle has known for a while that he would not return to the San Francisco 49ers, the only NFL team he has played for and the one that made him the No. 9 overall pick in 2018.
General manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan made it clear to McGlinchey that he was likely playing his final months for the team. There was too much money invested in other spots, and the 49ers knew they couldn't compete with other interested teams.
Behind the scenes, Lynch and Shanahan kept McGlinchey in the loop of what the team was thinking, and everything pointed to the tackle playing elsewhere in 2023 … maybe even
Photo: Recovering 49ers QB Brock Purdy spotted by fan
Brock Purdy can begin throwing again sometime in June. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback is expected to be ready to hit the field—practice or in-game—sometime in September.
Purdy is recovering from surgery to repair the tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow, an injury sustained in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He hasn't been seen since the surgery, with his last public appearance taking place In Arizona, during the week leading to the Super Bowl.
One fan spotted Purdy, though, getting a photo with the 49ers quarterback (h/t TheSFNiners). As expected, Purdy is wearing a massive brace on his throwing arm,
