Recap: 49ers survive sloppy finish to advance to Divisional Round with 23-17 win over Cowboys

By Kirk Larrabee

One week after riding a remarkable comeback win over the Los Angeles Rams to a spot in the postseason, the San Francisco 49ers almost found themselves on the opposite side of the spectrum in Sunday's Wild Card showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. But after being in control for much of game before losing momentum in the fourth quarter, the 49ers were able to fight off a

John Lynch says Deebo Samuel will be with the 49ers for a long time

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is becoming one of the NFL's biggest stars. He racked up 1,770 all-purpose yards this season and 15 total touchdowns (6 receiving, 8 rushing, 1 passing). Samuel has frustrated opposing defenses as a receiver, as a rusher, and even tossed a touchdown pass this past weekend against the Los Angeles Rams. Samuel is in his third NFL season, which means it's time to start thinking about a contract extension for the 25-year-old star. He's positioned himself to be among the highest-paid players at his position. However, Samuel is unique in that he does so much more than just playing wide receiver. "Deebo's going to be well compensated, and we plan on him being a Niner for a long time," general manager John Lynch said

After all, the team appears to be getting healthy at precisely the right time. Greenlaw has been struggling with hip and core muscle injuries all season. Lynch was thrilled with what he saw from his 24-year-old linebacker against the Los Angeles Rams. "It was so fun watching him play," general manager John Lynch said Thursday on KNBR's Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks show. "Man, he was playing fast. The tape showed it, but in person, it was

49ers more excited about Trey Lance now than when they drafted him, says John Lynch

By David Bonilla
Jan 14

Trey Lance has primarily spent his first NFL season as a student, learning the game. He's had two starts in place of an injured Jimmy Garoppolo but has spent most game days on the sideline as an observer. San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch has benefited from watching Lance in practices all season and witnessing his development. On Friday morning, Lynch joined 95.7 The Game and was asked how he would evaluate the rookie's first season. "I think it's been awesome," Lynch responded. "And a lot of people, I'm sure, are like, 'Man, this guy's crazy. What do you mean? He hasn't played that much.' But we had a plan for Trey, and I think the plan was to take it week by week. And we just wanted to see constant growth and development. "The thing
