Eagles move to the draft spot behind the 49ers

Mar 9, 2016 at 9:18 AM--

According to a report by Albert Breer of NFL Network, the Philadelphia Eagles have traded away LB Kiko Alonso, CB Byron Maxwell, and their 13th overall selection in next month's NFL Draft to the Miami Dolphins for their pick. Who is this San Francisco 49ers related? That pick happens to be the eighth overall selection, just one spot behind San Francisco.

If the 49ers have a desire to trade down in the first round, the team now has to figure out how the Eagles, and not the Dolphins, are going to pick and determine which teams may want to jump ahead of Philadelphia. Also interesting is that Philadelphia happens to be the former home of new 49ers head coach Chip Kelly, who may have a little insight into the thinking of his former team.

Reinforcements may be on the way for the injury-stricken San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is optimistic that the team will get wide receiver Deebo Samuel back next week — at least for practices. The coaching staff will use those practices to determine if the second-year receiver is healthy enough to play on October 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Samuel, in June, suffered a Jones fracture in his left foot and has been working relentlessly to return to the football field. He is with the team at The Greenbrier in West Virginia. "I'm optimistic he'll be back next week," Shanahan told reporters on Friday. "He had a real good week. Last week, hitting the rehab hard with all those guys, and just being able to watch him work out here on the side,

49ers WR Deebo Samuel likely to return vs. Dolphins, not vs. Eagles, per report

By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he expects Deebo Samuel to return to practice this week but wouldn't commit to the receiver playing next weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles. "I'm optimistic he'll be back next week," Shanahan told reporters on Friday. "He had a real good week. Last week, hitting the rehab hard with all those guys, and just being able to watch him work out here on the side, he looks real good running routes, and he's been able to do it without pain. So I expect to get him back next week. "Whether that means the game on Sunday, I don't know. That's stuff that I don't even think about until I see how he looks on
