San Francisco 49ers RB Jarryd Hayne's journey from a National Rugby League superstar to an NFL rookie will be featured on Sunday's episode of 60 Minutes in Australia.
Hayne was on the active roster to start the season for six games before being deactivated prior to the team's first matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. He was waived the following week and when no other team claimed him, was signed to the 49ers' practice squad. He returned to the active roster in December, just prior to the 49ers' game against the Detroit Lions.
Hayne was a big Australian media storyline during the 2015 preseason. In 2014, he left a stellar career in the National Rugby League to chase his dream of playing in the NFL.
Last season, Hayne appeared in eight games, rushing for 52 yards on 17 carries. He also had six receptions for 27 yards and eight punt returns on special teams, averaging 9.5 yards per return.

Details emerge on LB Fred Warner's restructured deal with 49ers
On Tuesday, the San Francisco 49ers created $9.5 million in salary cap space by restructuring the contract of linebacker Fred Warner. The deal remains a five-year one worth $95.225 million, and the player remains signed through the 2026 season.
However, much of Warner's 2023 base salary has been converted to a signing bonus, paying him that amount immediately but allowing the 49ers to spread the salary-cap impact of the amount throughout the length of the contract. In Warner's case, the impact of the signing bonus will go beyond 2026, as the 49ers added a void year in 2027.
Warner's 2023 salary cap number reduces from about $18.5 million to $9.049
