Matt Maiocco of the Press Democrat wrote this following in his blog today:
A lot of people might be wondering why Nolan would allow Hamilton, 32, to leave when the 49ers could not get permission from other teams to interview candidates for the offensive coordinator job.
Nolan said earlier this offseason he would stand in the way of certain coaches who wanted to further their careers. In Hamilton's case, he worked for the 49ers in an entry-level position and he has a chance to become a position coach. None of the coaches Nolan sought to interview for offensive coordinator was in an entry-level job.
Matt Maiocco contacted 49erswebzone.com to let us know that there was a small typo in his blog. He left out the word "not" and the first sentence of the second paragraph quoted above should read:
