Injury Updates: Ahmad Brooks returns, Carlos Hyde limited

Oct 15, 2015 at 6:24 PM--

As reported earlier today, LB Ahmad Brooks returned to practice for the San Francisco 49ers. He missed Sunday's game against the New York Giants due to the death of his sister.

RB Carlos Hyde was on hand today for warm-ups prior to team practice. However, he went into the weight room once team practice started. His injury – a sore foot – is not believed to be serious. RB Reggie Bush, who is still recovering from an calf injury suffered during week 1, remained out.

T Joe Staley (knee) missed his second straight practice.

John Lynch provides updates on Jauan Jennings, 49ers' front office moves

By David Bonilla
Feb 27

Jauan Jennings is poised to become a restricted free agent, offering the San Francisco 49ers various avenues to retain the talented wide receiver. One such option involves signing Jennings to a long-term contract, a possibility that general manager John Lynch openly acknowledged as a possibility while speaking to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. If that doesn't happen, the 49ers can tender Jennings, giving the team the right to match any more lucrative offers from other teams. Alternatively, they could attach the tendered offer to a draft pick, a costlier approach when it comes to guaranteed salary, but one that would force interested teams to surrender compensation if the 49ers opt not to match competing offers. All of those options

John Lynch discusses how Dre Greenlaw's injury impacts 49ers plan at linebacker

By Marc Adams

The San Francisco 49ers defense was smothering the Kansas City Chiefs offense in Super Bowl LVIII. Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes was struggling, and tight end Travis Kelce was visibly frustrated, even appearing to push head coach Andy Reid on the sideline. It looked as if the 49ers might finally win that elusive sixth Super Bowl. And then it happened. While running back onto the field, linebacker Dre Greenlaw slipped and tore his Achilles. And while one can argue whether or not that injury cost the 49ers the Super Bowl, it certainly had a major impact, as Kelce, now mostly being guarded by Oren Burks, became a major player in Kansas City's victory. Greenlaw's injury, without question, hurt the 49ers bid to win Super Bowl LVIII. But how will the injury affect the

With Brock Purdy's injury now behind him, 49ers GM John Lynch says QB can focus on "areas of improvement rather than just getting well"

By Marc Adams

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had a remarkable 2023 season. It was his first full season as the starter, and Purdy did not disappoint, passing for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns. He also led the league in passer rating at 113.0. And Purdy became the 49ers' first Pro Bowl QB since Jeff Garcia was selected in 2002. Matt Maiocco, of NBC Sports Bay Area, recently sat down with 49ers GM John Lynch, for the latest episode of 49ers Talk. They talked about the season Purdy had, and how different this offseason is compared to last offseason, when Purdy was coming off a torn UCL suffered in the NFC Championship Game. There was plenty of speculation as to whether or not Purdy would play

John Lynch, 49ers exploring options following Dre Greenlaw's injury

By David Bonilla

Losing Dre Greenlaw during the Super Bowl was a blow to the San Francisco 49ers, not just because of his on-field impact but also for the leadership he brings to the defense. "Dre's the heartbeat of our defense, him and [LB] Fred [Warner] in there, and how they feed off each other," tight end George Kittle said after the Super Bowl loss. "... We lose a guy like Dre, it's tough. He's just such a fantastic football player, and he's everything that the Niners stand for." Greenlaw tore his Achilles in the second quarter of the game, a devastating outcome for a player who battled through multiple injuries during the season, ranging from ankle, hamstring, shoulder, and hip issues.
