Damian Trujillo of NBC Bay Area is reporting that San Francisco 49ers LB Ahmad Brooks' lawyer is pleading "not guilty" on behalf of his client on the charges of misdemeanor sex battery. Brooks was not in court.
In August, a Santa Clara County Grand Jury charged Brooks with one count of misdemeanor sexual battery. They have also charged former 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald on one count of raping an intoxicated woman following a party at his house in December.
Among the claims within the lawsuit was that Brooks had groped her in a "sexual manner" while she was unconscious.
Brooks faces up to six months in prison for the alleged incident that took place on the same night and involved the same woman as in the McDonald charge.
