49ers vs Chargers will be live on NFL Network

Not too many San Francisco 49ers fans have been able to watch the team during preseason if they lived outside of the Bay Area. However, that will change on Thursday.

The team's final exhibition game, a matchup with the San Diego Chargers at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, has been picked up by NFL Network. Anyone that has NFL Network will be able to watch the entire game live.

Of course, you will still be able to follow the game live and converse with other fans on Facebook, Twitter, and within our popular forums.

The NFL is canceling Weeks 1 and 4 of the preseason, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. The league is reportedly expected to announce the decision on Thursday. "The move was driven by two primary factors," writes Florio. "First, teams who will be playing preseason games on the road won't want to move that many people. Second, given that no teams had on-field practice sessions in the offseason, coaches would rather have the extra time to work with their teams, and that will happen if they don't have to worry about two extra preseason games." San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is likely on a path to a head coaching job in the NFL. That could happen sooner rather than later.
