Could Norv Turner be Dallas’ next coach?

Jan 22, 2007 at 10:11 AM--

Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells retired from coaching football this morning. The Dallas Morning News feels that there are two possibilities as replacements for Parcells. One being San Diego defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. The other being San Francisco offensive coordinator Norv Turner.

Turner joined San Francisco on January 17, 2006. Turner was the offensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys on Jimmy Johnson's staff when Dallas won back to back Super Bowls in 1992 and 1993. Turner got much of the credit for their success.

He is also credited for the improvement in second year quarterback Alex Smith and has a good reputation for developing young quarterbacks in the NFL.

Of course, much of this is likely to be speculation.

A report on Thursday stated that NFL owners were pushing to lower the salary cap for 2020 and 2021. The move was being proposed to offset any potential losses that may come from the absence of fans within stadiums. Instead, the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) has been pushing for the impact of any revenue losses to be spread through 2030. With many NFL rosters pretty set, a cap reduction this late in the offseason would have significantly impacted some teams. It doesn't sound like that will happen. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network is reporting that there will be no change to the 2020 salary-cap figure of $198.2 million. The impact of lost revenue will instead be spread out

San Francisco 49ers George Kittle and Jimmy Garoppolo were recently seen at Oracle Park, the home turf of Major League Baseball's Giants. No, he wasn't privy to some behind-the-scenes look at a game or batting practice for local stars. The Giants aren't even in town. They are in Los Angeles. It wasn't even the real Garoppolo and Kittle. The two were represented by cardboard cutouts, which will become permanent residents for this season, replacing fans in Oracle Park's seats. Garoppolo's and Kittle's were shown off among a group of other Bay Area celebrities. Between the two is the cutout of rapper E-40. Kittle made the following comment via twitter regarding his proximity to the 49ers quarterback (h/t to

Peter King says Deebo Samuel could be sidelined until October, but 49ers can be patient

By David Bonilla
Jul 20, 2020

Deebo Samuel had surgery on June 18 to repair a Jones fracture of his left foot. The second-year receiver hopes to be available for the San Francisco 49ers by the start of the regular season. It's an aggressive timeline considering how much the receiver plants and cuts on that foot. Samuel's recovery, however, could eat into the start of the regular season, and Peter King of NBC Sports doesn't necessarily believe that would be the worst thing for the team. The 49ers open the season at home against the Arizona Cardinals and then travel to the East Coast to face the New York Jets and New York Giants. While the Cardinals figure to be much-improved, San Francisco
