49ers sign LB Steve Beauharnais

Aug 7, 2015 at 11:17 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers have signed linebacker Steve Beauharnais according to former NFL scout John Middlekauff.

Beauharnais was a seventh-round selection by the New England Patriots in 2013 and spent the last two years with the Washington Redskins.

Coincidentally, the signing comes on the same day of the reported arrest of 49ers star linebacker Aldon Smith, who was allegedly booked for a hit and run, DUI, and vandalism. Smith posted $26,000 bail this morning. "The situation that happened could have been handled differently," said Smith as he left Santa Clara County Jail.

Steve Young: 'No question' that Zach Wilson is the 'first choice' of the 49ers

By David Bonilla

Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young brought up an interesting point during his Wednesday interview on KNBR. The San Francisco 49ers don't expect—or hope not—to be drafting as high as No. 12 in upcoming years. So, if they wanted one of the top quarterbacks, and with next year's crop of prospects not looking as attractive as this year's, moving up in this draft was probably a smart move. The 49ers would probably never find a way to get into the top three if they sit in the low 20s—or even better, at No. 32. At No. 12, however, they had a shot and pulled it off. They still had to give up a lot, though, to make a move. Now, the choices appear to be Justin Fields, Trey Lance, or Mac Jones. Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson look slated to go one and

The San Francisco 49ers announced that the team has signed former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nate Sudfeld to a one-year deal. The Washington Football Team made Sudfeld a sixth-round selection out of Indiana in 2016. He signed with the Eagles practice squad before the 2017 season. Sudfeld completed five-of-12 attempts (41.7 percent) for 32 yards and an interception in one game with the Eagles last season, per NFL.com. San Francisco now has four quarterbacks on its roster. They are Jimmy Garoppolo, Josh Rosen, Josh Johnson, and now Sudfeld. The team is expected to draft a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick, which they acquired on March 26 via a trade with the Miami Dolphins. Sudfeld, 27, has completed 67.6 percent of his passes for 188 yards

April Fools: George Kittle tries to prank 49ers fans with trade news

Trust nothing. No, I am not talking about the pre-draft chatter that the San Francisco 49ers are locked in on Alabama quarterback Mac Jones with the No. 3 overall pick. Although, I tend not to trust pre-draft chatter either. I am talking about April Fools' Day. Sorry, George Kittle. No one is falling for this one. The 49ers' All-Pro tight end tweeted out the following, hoping to fool some gullible fans by suggesting that he had been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He even included a mock-up of himself in his new uniform. Next chapter... thanks to the faithful for all the support!

Here's what 3 sources told Dan Patrick about the 49ers and the No. 3 draft pick

Dan Patrick shared some insight into what the San Francisco 49ers are planning to do with the No. 3 overall pick after trading some hefty draft capital last week to move into that spot. Many analysts are projecting Alabama quarterback Mac Jones to be the pick, but others feel he could have been had with a later selection. Would Jones have made it all the way down to No. 12, the 49ers' original spot? Maybe not. But selecting him at No. 3 is viewed by many as a massive reach. With Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Zach Wilson of BYU expected to be off the board by the 49ers' selection, both Justin Fields of Ohio State and Trey Lance of North Dakota State are widely seen as passers with higher ceilings compared to Jones. So, what is Patrick hearing? "Yeah,
