49ers sign LB Steve Beauharnais

Aug 7, 2015 at 11:17 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers have signed linebacker Steve Beauharnais according to former NFL scout John Middlekauff.

Beauharnais was a seventh-round selection by the New England Patriots in 2013 and spent the last two years with the Washington Redskins.

Coincidentally, the signing comes on the same day of the reported arrest of 49ers star linebacker Aldon Smith, who was allegedly booked for a hit and run, DUI, and vandalism. Smith posted $26,000 bail this morning. "The situation that happened could have been handled differently," said Smith as he left Santa Clara County Jail.

Steve Young weighs in on the narrative that 49ers' Trey Lance isn't ready

Many have questioned Trey Lance's readiness as the second-year quarterback prepares to enter his first season as a starter. The San Francisco 49ers are transitioning from Jimmy Garoppolo to Lance, yet both remain on the roster despite the team's efforts to trade the former. The 49ers have maintained that they are confident in their 22-year-old quarterback to step into the starting role. However, others have questioned that confidence, speculating that there may be some doubt in Lance's progress from year one. Garoppolo remaining with the team this far into the offseason has fueled much of that. The truth is, Garoppolo probably wouldn't be on the roster had he been healthy. Instead, the quarterback is recovering from his March 8 shoulder surgery. Hall

Last year, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle became the first-ever recipient of the Dwight Clark Legacy Award. It's an honor presented to a 49ers player who best exemplifies the late receiver's spirit of teamwork. According to Steve Young, this year's recipient will be defensive lineman Arik Armstead. The Hall of Fame quarterback revealed the news on Wednesday morning during KNBR's Murph & Mac show. Of course, the guest list on the website for the June 1 event, the Dwight Clark Legacy Series, likely hinted that Armstead would be the recipient. The

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have signed tight end Troy Fumagalli to a one-year deal. To make room on the roster, the team waived tight end Garrett Walston. Fumagalli was among the tryout players at the 49ers' rookie minicamp. Something noteworthy: The tight end's left index finger was amputated due to a condition known as amniotic band syndrome. "It happened at birth, so I don't know any better," Fumagalli told ESPN in 2016 (h/t Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle). "If you were to ask me if I imagined a finger on my left hand, I feel like that's in the way of things. I wouldn't want it
