LB Desmond Bishop will visit with the 49ers

According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, linebacker Desmond Bishop will visit with the San Francisco 49ers.

Bishop has played with the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, and was signed by the 49ers on December 16, 2014. He is currently a free agent.

He was originally a sixth-round draft pick of the Packers out of California in 2007. In his two games with the 49ers, he had two tackles on special teams.

The 49ers have already visited with free agent linebacker Erin Henderson and will visit with seven-time Pro Bowler Lance Briggs on Monday.

The team is looking to add a little more depth after losing both Patrick Willis and Chris Borland to retirement. Signing a free agent that can play inside linebacker would allow the 49ers to focus on other priorities in the NFL Draft.

As you've probably read by now, two of three Good Morning Football hosts — Kyle Brandt and Nate Burleson — predicted that the San Francisco 49ers would miss the playoffs this season. "That Super Bowl-loss hangover is real," Burleson explained as part of his reasoning. NFL insider Ian Rapoport isn't so sure. At least, not when it comes to the 49ers. He feels San Francisco may be uniquely built to overcome predictions of a decline. "I thought the Niners had kind of a really good offseason," Rapoport said on KNBR's Murph & Mac show Tuesday morning. "It wasn't like very exciting. The Trent Williams trade was exciting.

By David Bonilla

Anthony Treash of Pro Football Focus went around the league and predicted one potential breakout player for each team during the 2020 season. For the San Francisco 49ers, he picked second-year linebacker Dre Greenlaw. Treash wrote the following of the selection: "Greenlaw surprised as a fifth-round rookie last year with how well he performed in Kwon Alexander's absence. He shined in coverage, posting a 72.6 grade in that facet throughout the 49ers' regular-season and postseason run (15th-best at the position). Greenlaw limits yards after the catch and has a clear nose for the ball. Including the postseason, he racked up 22 passing stops, which were the third-most at the position. He's already a top-25 linebacker in the NFL and is capable of
