ESPN's Jim Trotter is reporting that Jason Tarver will be joining the San Francisco 49ers as a senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach.

Tarver has been the defensive coordinator with the Raiders since 2012. In 2011, he was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Stanford. From 2001 to 2010, he was on the 49ers' staff, where he served as an offensive quality control coach, assistant running backs coach and offensive assistant, and outside linebackers coach.

He served with Tomsula for four years with the 49ers and coached a young Patrick Willis.

NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks recently ranked his top five off-ball linebackers in the league, and San Francisco 49ers fans may be disappointed to learn that the team's star defender, Fred Warner, was not at the top of the list. He wasn't at No. 2 either. Warner, who signed a five-year, $95 million contract extension last week, came in at No. 3, behind Bobby Wagner of the Seattle Seahawks and Darius Leonard of the Indianapolis Colts. Maybe that will be further motivation for the 24-year-old linebacker, who has many years in front of him. "The All-Pro has become one of the league's most disruptive players as an

Fred Warner has proven that he can do it all. That's why the San Francisco 49ers recently locked up their star linebacker to a massive contract extension, ensuring he remains with the team for years to come. Now, Warner is the new form factor for NFL linebackers, and that has Ryans excited about the player's future. "I think the way the game is changing with a lot more passing, a lot of spread offenses, you know, there's a lot of

"It's tough with this mask," he said before continuing with his answer. Bosa and cornerback Jason Verrett wore masks while speaking with reporters, quickly indicating that both are among the less than 10 percent of 49ers players who remain unvaccinated. Protocols demand that they wear masks while at the team's facilities — except during practices. If neither gets vaccinated, they will be limited by several league-imposed restrictions this season and have to undergo more frequent COVID testing. "I'm just
