Chris Culliver injured in the first quarter

Sep 7, 2014 at 2:12 PM--

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver went down with an injury at the end of the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. He eventually got on his feet, but looked a little woozy.

Rookie cornerback Dontae Johnson replaced him on the field.

The 49ers had already lost starter Tramaine Brock earlier in the game.

Update:

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area is reporting that Culliver is being evaluated for a head and neck injury and that his return is questionable.

Update 2:

Maiocco reports that Culliver has a concussion and has been ruled out of this game.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, and offensive line coach and run game coordinator Chris Foerster spoke with reporters after Thurday's practice, as the team prepares for its Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Here is everything they had to say. Transcripts provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. QB Brock Purdy One play from last week, the second-and-eight play in the second quarter, you're up right around midfield and you saw [Pittsburgh Steelers S] Minkah [Fitzpatrick] coming off the edge. 49ers to place cornerback Samuel Womack on injured reserve

By Kirk Larrabee
Sep 15

The San Francisco 49ers will be without back-up cornerback Samuel Womack for several weeks due to an MCL injury, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Friday. Womack sustained the injury during the final play of practice on Wednesday, Shanahan said. He is expected to go on injured reserve but does not need surgery and will likely return later this season. "I think it's like six to eight weeks, something like that," Shanahan said of Womack's timetable to return. Womack (5-10, 189) is in his second season with the 49ers after being selected in Round 5 of the 2022 NFL Draft. He had 19 tackles in 16 games as a rookie with one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Womack played nine snaps on defense and 17 snaps on

Brock Purdy on pace to be 49ers' first 4,000-yard passer since Jeff Garcia

By JD Salazar
Sep 22

Since the turn of the century, there have been 179 single-season quarterback performances of at least 4,000 yards. The 49ers, as fans well know, have but one—Jeff Garcia's impressive but futile 4,278 yard effort in a 2000 season that saw SF go just 6-10. Since then, that franchise high-water mark has gone untouched. There have been a few other contenders to rally around in that span—Alex Smith, Colin Kaepernick, and Jimmy Garoppolo, but each have fallen short of that historic mark. Brock Purdy, though, will at least threaten to meet that lofty expectation. With his latest 310-yard, two-touchdown performance, Purdy finds himself on pace for a 4,171-yard season in 2023. His key trait has been his efficiency; so far this year, he's completed 67.0% of his passes, and

49ers Notebook: Deebo is no longer "awful"; Ronnie Bell makes a splash; J.J. Watt praises Niners; Captain Andrew Luck makes Levi's cameo

By Kirk Larrabee
Sep 22

Thursday night was a fun one at Levi's Stadium, where the San Francisco 49ers cruised to a 30-12 victory over the visiting New York Giants. It was a night that saw wide receiver Deebo Samuel declare himself as officially out of "awful" mode, running back Christian McCaffrey reach milestones, wide receiver Ronnie Bell create some lasting memories, and -- of all things -- Andrew Luck making a return to an NFL field (in full Civil War costume) to take part in a game of trivia. Let's recap all that and more in this version of 49ers Notebook. Not awful anymore Back in June, Deebo Samuel caught some attention with his honest description of his 2022 performance
