LB Costanzo placed on IR; 49ers sign LB Wilson

Aug 13, 2014 at 8:53 AM--

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Blake Costanzo, who was signed by the 49ers on June 3, 2014, has been placed in injured reserve.

The 49ers have used his roster spot to sign ex-Steeler linebacker Kion Wilson to a one-year deal. The 6-foot-1, 239-pound Wilson played in seven games for the Steelers in 2013, starting two.

He entered the league in 2010 as an undrafted free agent and debuted with the San Diego Chargers. The 27 year old has 17 career tackles and will likely try to play the Costanzo role on special teams.

Among the topics discussed in those media sessions were the improvement of safety Talanoa Hufanga, the impact of new quarterbacks coach Brian Griese, and where Jimmy Garoppolo gets his vocal power from. There were also some quotes of note to come from outside 49ers facilities, including some thoughts from former 49ers defensive tackle D.J. Jones as he gets set to face his former team when the 49ers face the Broncos in Denver on Sunday night. Here's a rundown of those topics and more in this version of 49ers
