Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins calls 49ers CB Charvarius Ward's post-game comments "laughable"

By David Bonilla
Nov 25

Following Monday night's game against the Arizona Cardinals in Mexico City, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward had some harsh comments about wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. "He was getting locked up. He was doing some dirty things," Ward said after the game. "He tried to clip me, he grabbed me by the throat. He grabbed my facemask on one play, so I don't respect his game. That's steroid boy." That last part is a jab regarding Hopkins' earlier six-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Hopkins spoke with reporters on Friday and had an opportunity to respond to Ward's

On Friday, the San Francisco 49ers listed defensive lineman Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) as "doubtful" for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is "questionable" as he deals with a hamstring injury. In preparation for potentially missing Armstead, the 49ers announced that they have promoted defensive lineman T.Y. McGill from the practice squad to the active roster. They could not temporarily elevate him from the practice squad because the team had already done so three times, the maximum for one season. San Francisco waived defensive lineman Kemoko Turay to open the roster spot necessary for promoting McGill. Turay has been inactive for five games this season, including the past three. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings was the team's leading pass-catcher on Sunday, hauling in six passes for 49 yards and a touchdown, his second-most productive total of the season. Jennings, who has been relatively quiet this season after a strong finish to his 2021 campaign, put together an emphatic performance where he was once again a reliable option at the sticks, converting five first downs on his six receptions. On the year, 17 of Jennings's 24 receptions have gone for first downs, despite the 2020 seventh-round pick averaging just 5.7 yards per reception. However, the 49ers wideout has struggled with drops this season, averaging a drop rate of over 20% through the first seven weeks of the season. Since then, despite

The San Francisco 49ers have signed defensive lineman Kemoko Turay to the team's practice squad. To make room on the practice squad, the team released cornerback Ka'dar Hollman. Turay (6-5, 253) was waived by the team on November 26 after defensive lineman T.Y. McGill was promoted to the active roster. The 49ers initially signed Hollman (6-0, 196) to the practice squad on October
