Were the San Francisco 49ers interested in former New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore? Maybe. Maybe not. Head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't make that clear while speaking with reporters before today's practice. Not that anyone thought he would. What the coach did say is that the 49ers at least look into the possibility of acquiring Gilmore. "We looked into all of it," Shanahan told reporters. "We obviously didn't go through with it." While initial reports stated that the Patriots were planning to release Gilmore due to a contract dispute, New England ended up trading the Pro Bowl and All-Pro cornerback to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 2023 sixth-round draft pick. Sunday's 28-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks felt like somewhat of a demoralizing one for the San Francisco 49ers, but two of the team's defensive standouts -- defensive end Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner --expect to see their teammates carry a positive mentality forward as the challenges in their schedule continue. The 49ers were in control of the game for most of the first half but the Seahawks managed to lock themselves in a 7-7 tie with the 49ers at halftime. The Seahawks then took control in the second half, building a 28-13 lead before holding on late to come out of Levi's Stadium with a win. The loss was the second consecutive home defeat for the 49ers, who now sit at 2-2 on the season after a last-second loss to the Green Bay Packers last

By Kirk Larrabee

The San Francisco 49ers found themselves in an unexpected and unwanted special teams conundrum during a 28-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday when a pregame groin injury to kicker Robbie Gould left them trying to decide between using punter Mitch Wishnowsky on field goals and extra points or not using a kicker in scoring opportunities at all. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters after the game that he gave some consideration to leaving the offense on the field during situations that would normally require a placekicker. But Wishnowsky wound up getting the nod, although his results were mixed enough that head coach Kyle Shanahan kept his options open as the game went along. Wishnowsky connected on his first point after attempt, which came after a
