Dennis Georgatos, writing for the Sporting News, reports the San Francisco 49ers struggled at the slot wide receiver position in 2005. 49ers rookie WR Brandon Williams, who finished his career as Wisconsin's all-time leading receiver, is a leading candidate to fill that role in addition to returning punts. He has good speed and is willing to go over the middle and make the catch in traffic.
