Brewer, Ibekwe sign with 49ers; Interest in Eaton

The Associated Press reports the San Francisco 49ers have signed WR C.J. Brewer to an undisclosed contract. He received an undisclosed signing bonus as part of the deal. He was recently with the Albany Conquest, of Arena League 2 as an offensive specialist. Brewer, currently recovering from a broken collarbone, caught 15 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns in three games for the Conquest.

According to presstelegram.com, Onye Ibekwe signed a two-year, free agent's contract with the 49ers on Sunday night. He will attend the team's mini-camp in Redwood City this weekend. Ibekwe is 6-foot-6 and 260-pounds. he played for the Long Beach State basketball team and transitioned to tight end to join an NFL club.

KGMB9.com reports the 49ers are interested in undrafted rookie free agent OL Brandon Eaton (Hawaii).

John Lynch 'hopeful' 49ers will sign rookie QB Trey Lance soon

Today, San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was asked about the contract situation with the team's No. 3 overall pick. Rookie quarterback Trey Lance remains the only unsigned player from the Niners' most recent draft class. "We're sure hopeful that he does (sign soon)," Lynch said. "Sometimes these things -- I just look at our history since we've been here. We've never had a holdout. It always seems to go down to the wire. It's important that he is here. "I think for any rookie, for every player, every rep counts, every meeting counts, but in particular at that position. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN and the player's agent, the San Francisco 49ers have signed quarterback Trey Lance to his four-year rookie deal. The team selected Lance out of North Dakota State with the No. 3 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was the last unsigned player from San Francisco's most recent draft class. The signing comes just hours before the 49ers go through their first practice of training camp. How well do the 2021 49ers stack up to the 2019 team? Lately I have listened to some podcasts and read some tweets comparing the current San Francisco 49ers team (2021) to the 2019 team that fell just short of winning the Super Bowl. I find the comparison interesting. And since many people quickly assume the 2021 49ers are not as good as the 2019 team, I wanted to take a look for myself. So as we prepare for the team to report on Tuesday, let's compare the two teams, position by position.
