When it came time for the New York Jets head coach to speak to his team following an early offseason practice, Robert Saleh stood there behind his players, waiting to hear what would be said. Then he remembered ... "Oh shoot, that's me," Saleh said to himself. The story is similar to San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan nearly forgetting to name team captains before his first preseason game. "Honestly, if someone hadn't asked me, I probably would have been sitting there looking out at the coin toss and wondering why no one was out there," Shanahan said on

After playing in the NFL as a wide receiver since 2014, Jordan Matthews is working on converting to a tight end. He had two stints with the San Francisco 49ers from 2019-20. Matthews will participate in the free-agent tryouts put on by HUB Football in San Diego on Sunday. The workout will take place in front of NFL, CFL, USFL, and USA Rugby scouts. ESPN's Turron Davenport reported last month that, at the time, Matthews had added 30 pounds during the transition to tight end. HUB listed Matthews at 235 on its roster of attendees. NFL Network's Ian Rapport reports that Matthews has actually added over 15 pounds and was among the many attendees at Tight End
