Rams interested in CB Carlos Rogers

Howard Balzer in St. Louis is reporting that the St. Louis Rams, a division rival of the San Francisco 49ers, are one of the teams that has cornerback Carlos Rogers in their sights for free agency.

Rogers, who played extremely well for the 49ers in 2011, is scheduled to become a free agent at 1 PM today.

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area mentions that Greg Williams drafted him and that Rogers said he liked playing for Williams. However, he also questions if Williams will even be coaching this year (see Saints bounty troubles).

Kyle Shanahan explains how the goal of 40 runs vs. the Rams changed the 49ers' mindset

At one point, head coach Kyle Shanahan regretted telling his team that the goal heading into Monday night was to run the football 40 times against the Los Angeles Rams. That's a lofty goal for any NFL team, much less a struggling San Francisco 49ers squad that entered the game with a 3-5 record. "I can't lie," Shanahan said on KNBR's Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks show. "When I told them we're going to run the ball 40 times, then I got up to my room later that night, I was like, 'What was I thinking? That's going to be so hard to do.'"
