By David Bonilla

Wednesday represented the first time DeMeco Ryans sat down and spoke with reporters since being named the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers in January. He has the difficult task of replacing Robert Saleh, who is now the New York Jets head coach. An even bigger challenge might be stopping the quarterbacks within the NFC West. Not only does he have to find a way to slow down Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray twice a year, now he has to worry about Matthew Stafford being in the division. Ryans was asked about that challenge on Wednesday, and the coach shared his thoughts on each opposing quarterback. Garoppolo is slated to be the San Francisco 49ers' starting quarterback when the team kicks off against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on September 12. Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters today and expressed how pleased he is with Garoppolo's performance during the offseason program. "I think Jimmy had his best spring

Pass rusher Nick Bosa rejoined his San Francisco 49ers teammates this week. He had been rehabbing and training in Florida with his brother, Joey Bosa of the Los Angeles Chargers. Joey typically passes on attending his own team's organized team activities (OTAs). Nick Bosa was never going to hit the practice field with his teammates, but the plan was always to have him around for these two weeks — the last week of OTAs and next week's three-day minicamp. "Yeah, I mean, he can't take part in much because he's still rehabbing too," head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters this afternoon, "but he's been here all week, and yeah, he's been good. But he came for a shorter visit than expected." That's because Shanahan canceled the remainder of the
