16 frozen observations from the 49ers' win in Green Bay

By Marc Adams

What an ugly game. But what a beautiful game. The San Francisco 49ers struggled for most of the divisional round playoff in Green Bay against the Packers on Saturday night. The offense could not generate yards, much less points, especially in the first half. But somehow the 49ers, driven by a dominant defense, and the resurrection of a dead special teams unit came to life, and beat the Packers 13-10. You read that correctly. The 49ers held Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams to 10 points. And now the 49ers are heading to their second NFC Championship Game in the last three years. Here are my 16 observations from a frozen win: Robbie Gould has ice in his veins. His snowy, frozen walk-off, game-winning field goal was

49ers Notebook: Could 49ers mark end of the road for Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady? Arik Armstead the baller; Deebo's big run; Outcome never in doubt?

There's a lot to unpack from Saturday night's memorable 13-10 win for the San Francisco 49ers over the Green Bay Packers, but some of the biggest news to surface since that game came to an end involves the legendary quarterback the 49ers faced in their latest playoff victory—and the one they could face next week. Keep in mind there are still a lot of unknowns here, including (as of Sunday morning) whether or not the 49ers will even get this opportunity when they battle in the NFC Championship next Sunday (6:40 p.m. ET/3:40 p.m. PT, FOX). But based on what Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Saturday night to go with what's been reported about Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady over the past 24 hours, it's not incorrect to say the 49ers could conceivably be the team to

49ers fan takeover of SoFi Stadium shocked Matthew Stafford's wife

The San Francisco 49ers remain a popular team in the Los Angeles area, but Sunday's crowd at SoFi Stadium for the playoff-impacting game against the Los Angeles Rams was wild. The Rams were the home team, but you couldn't tell. That's because the crowd was dominated by 49ers fans, forcing the Rams to play in a hostile environment on their own turf. It got so bad for the Rams that the crowd noise forced the offense to use a silent count during critical moments in the game. It was too loud to ignore. "It was a tough environment for us to communicate in really the whole second half," Rams quarterback Matthew

ESPN believes these flaws could hurt 49ers on Sunday vs. Cowboys

ESPN writer Bill Barnwell made his playoff predictions all the way to Super Bowl LVI. He has the Kansas City Chiefs topping the Los Angeles Rams 31-24 in the NFL's championship game. The first order of business for the San Francisco 49ers to ensure that isn't the matchup will be to beat the NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys in the opening round of postseason play, which begins this weekend. While many like the 49ers' chances in this matchup, Barnwell isn't sure San Francisco can come out on top. He predicts a 27-14 Dallas win at AT&T Stadium on Sunday. Barnwell admits that the 49ers have a talented roster capable of upsetting any opponent. However, like many playoff teams this year, it is not without flaws. Barnwell doesn't like this matchup for the 49ers as
