49ers hire former Seahawks LB to defensive staff

On Monday morning, former Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright took to YouTube to announce he's been hired as the 49ers' assistant linebackers coach/defensive quality control coach. The news comes just days after news broke that the 49ers would be promoting Nick Sorensen to defensive coordinator. Sorensen spent several years as a coach on the Seahawks staff from 2013 to 2020, which includes the infamous "Legion of Boom" era, during which Wright served as a starting linebacker. The 34-year-old Wright played for the Seahawks from 2011 to 2020 and won a Super Bowl XLVIII with Seattle. He

Mel Kiper's latest mock draft has 49ers adding pass rusher at No. 31

ESPN analyst Mel Kiper unveiled his latest mock draft, projecting the 32 selections of the first round. For the first time since 2021, the San Francisco 49ers own a first-round selection and could use the pick to bolster the offensive line or the defensive backfield. However, Kiper has the team going in another direction. He proposes adding a pass rusher to complement defensive end Nick Bosa on the opposite side.
