By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel exited Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings with a groin injury. He is undergoing an MRI today to determine the severity of the injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the team's leading receiver is "expected to miss a little time." However, the good news is that the injury does not appear to be a long-term one. #49ers WR/offensive weapon Deebo Samuel will have an MRI on his groin today and while he's expected to miss a little time, it's not considered a major

49ers DE Nick Bosa 'starting to get the hang' of how to get high sack numbers

By Kirk Larrabee

Nick Bosa notched his ninth and tenth sacks of the 2021 season on Sunday, and if what he said after the game is any indication, there could be a lot more to come. Bosa collected those two sacks in the 49ers' 30-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, which was the seventh game this season where he's had at least one sack. He's now one ahead of the nine sacks he notched as a rookie in 2019 and is three away from league leader Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns. Watching players like Garrett, and others, who rack up high amounts of sacks has helped teach Bosa how to get big numbers of his own. "I think I've definitely improved a lot. I think I'm starting to get the hang of just how to really get sacks, get numbers," Bosa said Sunday. "My rookie year,

49ers flip the script on turnovers to help get their swagger back

The statistics from the San Francisco 49ers over their past two games are what one might expect given how dominant they've played. They've outscored their past two opponents—the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars—by a combined score of 61-20. They ran the ball over 40 times in each game, with a total rushing yardage edge of 327 to 106. They held the ball for 39:03 against the Rams and 38:22 against the Jaguars. But there might be one stat in particular that is most responsible for the turnaround the 49ers are seeing after their 3-5 start. The stat in question is turnover differential, which is trending in the right direction for the 49ers after being among the worst in the NFL over their first eight games. The numbers still aren't

Jimmie Ward shares details of 49ers meeting that led to defensive turnaround

By David Bonilla
Nov 17

It looked like a different San Francisco 49ers defensive on the field Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams, especially compared to the embarrassing performance displayed a week earlier against the Arizona Cardinals. The Niners defense held the potent Rams offense to just 10 points in the primetime shellacking. Following the home loss to an injury-plagued Cardinals squad and before the latest game, the defensive captains, which includes Ward, got together to figure out how to turn things around. At 3-5, something needed to change for the 49ers' playoff hopes to remain alive. "We ended up having a meeting with the team captains on defense," safety Jimmie Ward explained on KNBR's Murph & Mac show. "I can't really speak too much on the offense.
