According to Matt Barrows (@mattbarrows) of the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco 49ers have signed some help at quarterback. The team picked up McLeod Bethel-Thompson from Sac State today.

Had they not signed some help, Colin Kaepernick would have been taking all the reps by himself tomorrow.

What to make of the 49ers quarterback situation

By Rohan Chakravarthi
Jan 31

The San Francisco 49ers are in offseason mode, as they were eliminated by the Philadelphia Eagles to the score of 31-7 in the NFC Championship round, effectively ending their season. In the loss, the 49ers faced unimaginable circumstances, as starting quarterback Brock Purdy suffered a torn UCL on the first offensive drive of the game, while backup Josh Johnson departed with a concussion and did not return, forcing the former to re-enter, despite the injury. With the injuries to both quarterbacks, the 49ers ended the season with all four of their active quarterbacks injured, which has unfortunately been a theme for the team over the past few seasons. As uncertainty looms over the current starter in 2023, let's evaluate all the options and come to an

The dream run the San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Brock Purdy had been on for the past two months crashed and burned in emphatic fashion at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday, with the 49ers falling 31-7 in a sloppy, injury-riddled NFC Championship loss to the Eagles. Whether or not you want to accept Silver's stand on the situation is up to you. The topic has created much debate among the fanbase, but it is a discussion for another day. One thing was made clear this week. Jimmy Garoppolo, the

49ers mailbag: Will 49ers sign a big-name QB? Who will Ryans take to Houston? Who will replace Ryans? Will Garoppolo return?

There's not much going on with the San Francisco 49ers. Not unless you count these small bits of news: Brock Purdy has a UCL tear and will likely need surgery. If they can repair the tendon, he'll need six months of recovery time (which is August). If they have to replace it (Tommy John surgery), it will be decidedly longer. Trey Lance says he is three to four weeks from being cleared to practice, and that he should be 100% by OTAs (organized team activities). Trent Williams was walking with a crutch on Tuesday (locker cleanout day) and had a walking boot on. But he said it's nothing. DeMeco Ryans was hired to be the next head coach of the Houston Texans. Tom Brady announced his retirement Wednesday morning, so those hoping he
