Quarterback help: 49ers sign McLeod Bethel-Thompson

According to Matt Barrows (@mattbarrows) of the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco 49ers have signed some help at quarterback. The team picked up McLeod Bethel-Thompson from Sac State today.

Had they not signed some help, Colin Kaepernick would have been taking all the reps by himself tomorrow.

With as many players as the 49ers currently have on the sidelines due to injuries, chances are the team will be scanning the free agent market in the days ahead to see who can be brought in to help. But while they will certainly be open to the possibility of adding new players to the roster, they also expect the players they currently have to step up. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan discussed the issue after Sunday's 31-13 win over the New York Jets, which saw the team lose quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (high ankle sprain), defensive linemen Nick Bosa (knee/possible ACL tear) and Solomon Thomas (knee), and running backs Tevin Coleman (knee) and Raheem Mostert (knee).
