Quarterback help: 49ers sign McLeod Bethel-Thompson

According to Matt Barrows (@mattbarrows) of the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco 49ers have signed some help at quarterback. The team picked up McLeod Bethel-Thompson from Sac State today.

Had they not signed some help, Colin Kaepernick would have been taking all the reps by himself tomorrow.

Former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman released a statement via social media today, following his arrest in the early hours of Wednesday and release from custody yesterday. "I am deeply remorseful for my actions on Tuesday night," wrote Sherman. "I behaved in a manner I am not proud of. I have been dealing with some personal challenges over the last several months, but that is not an excuse for how I acted. The importance of mental and emotional health is extremely real and I vow to get the help I need. The San Francisco 49ers announced that the team has signed running back Trey Sermon, who played college football at Ohio State and Oklahoma, to his four-year rookie deal. Lately I have listened to some podcasts and read some tweets comparing the current San Francisco 49ers team (2021) to the 2019 team that fell just short of winning the Super Bowl. I find the comparison interesting. And since many people quickly assume the 2021 49ers are not as good as the 2019 team, I wanted to take a look for myself. So as we prepare for the team to report on Tuesday, let's compare the two teams, position by position.
