Trey Lance will hear his name called on Thursday night. San Francisco 49ers fans are eager to know if their favorite team will call the quarterback's name. Rich Eisen is also very interested to know where Lance is headed and grilled the former Bison about his interactions with the Niners. "How are your Zooms with the 49ers, Trey?" Eisen came out and asked the quarterback during The Rich Eisen Show. "I actually ... um," Lance said before pausing, as if he were carefully choosing his next words. "They've been going well," he continued. "I haven't had any more with them than I've had with any other team. But definitely looking forward to [the draft], like said, finding out where I'm going to be. I wish I knew, just as much as you do. Probably

Schefter: Compelling QB options have 49ers going back and forth on draft decision

Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch have the biggest decision of their San Francisco 49ers tenure approaching. On Thursday night, the head coach and general manager duo will select a quarterback of the future with the No. 3 overall pick, a selection for which they traded a haul of draft picks, including first-rounders in 2022 and 2023. If they miss on the pick, though, it could put one or even both of them on the hot seat within the next few years. For most of the time since that March 26 trade, the betting favorite has been Mac Jones of Alabama. Adam Schefter of ESPN believes the Crimson Tide product would have been the selection had the draft taken place a month ago. However, a

Adam Schefter appeared on ESPN's Get Up! this morning and shared some tidbits surrounding the San Francisco 49ers and the much-discussed No. 3 overall pick. The NFL insider believes the team had Mac Jones of Alabama in mind when it traded up on March 26. However, the early move gave head coach Kyle Shanahan, general manager John Lynch, and team personnel time to openly assess the other top prospects — Justin Fields of Ohio State and Trey Lance of North Dakota State. "As much as the 49ers love Mac Jones, and they do, I believe that the gap between Mac Jones and the other quarterbacks like Trey Lance, has been narrowed considerably to the point where, over the weekend, the organization was really going back and forth on all these quarterbacks, and trying to

A report surfaced yesterday stating that the New England Patriots were preparing a new contract for Jimmy Garoppolo — just in case the San Francisco 49ers decided to trade the veteran quarterback. Another report stated that the expectation around the league is that the Niners would try to move Garoppolo before or during the draft, which kicks off tonight. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero says that there are currently no plans to trade Garoppolo. However, he adds that multiple teams are expected to reach out to San Francisco today to inquire about the
